Top 5 TV Characters I Hate But Everybody Loves

Description

These are five TV characters I either dislike or hate (I'll be specific) but everybody else loves. I know it's all females but it's just a coincidence and not intentional.

1. Kennedy, from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Now people have polarizing opinions on Kennedy. They either hate her for being self-centered, egotistical, and becoming Willow's new girlfriend so soon after Tara's death. Or they, at best, like her and feel she's under-appreciated for being the toughest out of all the Potential Slayers and helping Willow move on. But for me, I can't help but despise her for the above mentioned reasons. She and Willow had no chemistry, and their romantic dialogue was nothing but claptrap. I don't feel the way she makes advances to Willow, or acts rude towards Buffy, is entirely justified.

2. Shaw, from "Person of Interest." In the show, while Reese and Finch prevent crimes that the government considers irrelevant, Shaw was introduced as an operative who prevents crimes considered relevant by the government, as well as a female counterpart to Reese. In her debut episode, she is the focus as we follow her on a mission and see her approached by Reese and Finch to join them. She eventually becomes a series regular in the third season, where she takes the helm in a lot more episodes.

However, my biggest problem with her is that she's very boring. She is emotionless most of the time, even though she was designed to have a personality disorder. I kinda get why they wrote her that way. She isn't emotionless because she had a dark past; she's always been this way. But Sarah Shahi fails to make her character interesting in the slightest. She says a lot of one liners but they fall flat due to her bland delivery.

The only times I can stand her is whenever she's with Root because of how different they are, and that sense that they flirt a lot with each other.

EDIT (1/1/16): My feelings for Sarah Shahi have changed when I saw her on an episode of Psych. I really liked her character on the episode, and felt that she can definitely act all right. I guess I should blame the writers and directors on POI.

3. Amy Farrah Fowler, from "The Big Bang Theory." Much like how Shaw was the female counterpart to Reese, Amy was introduced as Sheldon's female counterpart as well as his girlfriend. Now I love Sheldon, but I couldn't get into Amy because of her unappealing appearance and wooden delivery. I don't feel she could carry those monologues as well as Sheldon does. Then there's some instances where they try to make her into her own character by making her friends with Penny.

I really wanted to like Amy, but I feel her scenes with Sheldon aren't as hilarious or cute as his scenes with Penny, and the writers try too hard to make her funny like that running joke that implies Amy has the hots for Penny.

Still I have no hard feelings for Mayim Bialik who plays her. She seems like a decent, hard working, intelligent woman. I hate to askew her character, but that's how I feel. Although she did had her share of funny lines and moments.

4. Lizzie Samuels, "The Walking Dead." Lizzie, along with her father and sister Mika, were new people in the community Rick and his gang set up in the prison during Season 4. After their father gets killed, Carol becomes somewhat of an adoptive mother to them.

She's a bit of a tomboy and has her own way of dealing with the apocalypse. She feels the Walkers are misunderstood, so she gives them names and feeds them rats and rabbits which makes them all the more eager to tear down the fence around the prison.

The episode entitled The Grove was the point in which she and her behavior became hard for me to deal with. She throws a tantrum at Carol for killing a Walker she claims to be "playing" with her, and cried that killing walkers is just the same as killing humans. Then she kills Mika to prove her point in what was supposed to be a shocking moment that instead pissed me off. Carol then takes Lizzie out, only to put her out of her misery by shooting her. I was so satisfied when that happened, although I feel a little bad about that since she was just a kid.

People actually praised this episode and the performance of Brighton Sharbino (Lizzie), but I just couldn't do the same because of her illegitimate behavior.

5. Leslie Winkle, from "The Big Bang Theory." Now Leslie Winkle isn't a character I have a hard time dealing with, except for one little issue. I hate it when she calls Sheldon a dumbass because that's all she says to insult him. If the writers were trying to make it her catchphrase, I don't want it to be. It's no bazinga. But apart from that, she is okay when she's with Leonard or Howard. And I understand that people love her because they grew up watching Sara Gilbert on "Roseanne." So I can't complain that much about her, especially since she's been absent due to hosting "The Talk."
